🧀 Pan-Fried Halloumi Cheese
Halloumi is a firm, salty cheese (traditionally from Cyprus) that doesn’t melt easily, which makes it perfect for frying. When pan-fried, it gets a crispy golden crust while staying soft inside.
Ingredients
- 200–250 g halloumi cheese
- 1–2 tsp olive oil (optional; halloumi already has fat)
- Black pepper (optional)
- Lemon wedges or honey (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Slice the cheese
Cut the halloumi into slices about 1 cm thick. - Heat the pan
Place a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add a little olive oil if your pan isn’t non-stick. - Fry the halloumi
Put the slices in the pan in a single layer.
Cook for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown. - Serve immediately
Halloumi tastes best hot while crispy.
